This Restaurant was the perfect spot for my first official review. A legitimate hidden gem, you wouldn’t even know it was there unless you were looking for it- and maybe not even then.

Location: 435 N Fairfax Ave. Los Angeles CA 90048

Phone Number: 323-782-9225

Price Mark: Dinner for two- $167 including a pricey bottle of wine.

I even had to call to get a landmark, as I drove by it several times.

The setting is simplistic, no frills here. But we sat right down and the service was quick and friendly.

We ordered a bottle of wine:

All of the wine was a little pricey- which is really my only complaint on the price point for Animal. It was smooth and complimented everything we ate nicely.

Our waiter suggested that we order 5 things, as they are small plates perfect for sharing.

We started off with the Lamb Tartar. Price $12 The flavors were fresh, the sauce delightful. I could eat this every day.

Next up was Veal Brains. Price:$14 Fried to crispy perfection, rich and fabulous.

Followed by Bone Marrow. Price: $10 Bone Marrow is one of my most favorite things. I usually tend to eat this without the bread, as I really like to taste it- but this garlic infused toast was light and fluffy, buttery and wonderful.

Next we enjoyed the BBQ pork belly sliders.Price: $13 They were sweet and tangy, unbelievably tender and delicious. If I had one little complaint about this dish it would be that it was overall sweeter than I would have liked- but it’s hardly a complaint as I would order it again.

We finished off our meal with the Foie Gras Loco Moco. Price: $35. It included spam and a quail egg topper. This was Drew’s favorite dish. It’s hard to pick apart such an amazing dinner, but this dish was my most favorite flavors, but the foie gras was a tad overcooked and the hamburger meat was not a pleasant contrast to the foie, making it less pleasurable on my pallet. The rice was cooked to perfection, and overall the dish was a delight- however next time I think I will trade this dish for the Foie Gras on a biscuit with maple sausage gravy.

Overall Review: Food is reasonably priced and fantastic. The wine is pricey but good. A great vibe and friendly service earns this Restaurant high marks with an 8.5 out of 10.
